ARCHBISHOP GABRIEl Abegunrin has hinted that some duties would soon be taken off V. Rev. Fr Richard Omolade to enable him have time for himself as age was now telling on him.

According to His Grace, “we cannot ride the willing horse to death, so he has to be mindful of what he does now.

The Archbishop was speaking a the 50th birthday anniversary Mass of Very Rev. Fr Richard Omolade at St Peter’s Apata, on Sunday 25 February.

In attendance also was Archbishop emeritus Felix Alaba Job.

Archbishop Abegunrin also thanked those present including his parishioners of St Peter Apata and he encouraged them to cooperate with their parish priest and the Church would take its shape, especially the roofing of the Church.

He equally reminded them of the school that was halted in order to give it a new shape.

Archbishop Abegunrin explained to the parishioners that on resumption of the school, after refurbishing it, they have to bring their children to be trained and work there too.

Archbishop Abegunrin also thanked the homilist Rev. Fr Edward Ewherido for delivering a good homily.

Very Rev. Fr Richard Omolade while responding acknowledged that the celebration was unique because priesthood transformed his life.

He noted that he had his own moments of difficulties and sorrows but he never had any regret taking cognition that as human, he was not perfect. He recalled that he had health problems which God battled and perfected, he said; there is no case too difficult for God to handle, emphasizing that his major concern is to do the best God wants him to do.

Fr Richard Omolade appreciates Archbishop Abegunrin for allocating a parish before his birthday. He thanked Archbishop emeritus Felix Alaba Job under whom he had undergone his tutelage and had  all the experiences which were diverse, complex and more of love.

He also appreciated friends, families from various places. The book which the celebrant wrote; “Rythms of life” was later launched.
