REV PETER Abiona explained that God is always with every individual, no matter who he or she is, what he or she does or thinks.

Rev Peter Abiona, referring to Matthew 28:20 at the parish vigil in Ss Peter and Paul Pro Cathedral, Lagere, Ile Ife, 17 November, said that God is always with those who do what He commands.

He said that Daniel was able to escape the lion’s den when he was accused of the sin he did not commit and Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego were able to escape the blazing furnace because they refused to bow down to a statue. Paul and Silas were thrown into jail but the Lord was with them only because they kept God’s ordinances.

Rev Abiona then encouraged parishioners not to doubt the love of God for them because God is always aware of their prayers.

 Rev Frs Lawrence Adebisi and Paul Akinyode led the intercessory prayer. Parishioners were told to pray for the empowerment of the Holy Spirit in their lives after which they laid hands on them.
