The divine grace grows in willing heart

The divine grace grows in willing heart

By REV. FR. SAMUEL FREDERICK

2 Sam. 7:4-17, Mk 4:1-20. In today's first reading, David plans to build a great House for God in Jerusalem because he thought that it was not fitting that he resided in a newly built and comfortable palace while the Ark of the Covenant remained in the Tent. Thus, he wanted to build a proper and worthy Temple for the Lord as a powerful sign of His presence among His people and epicentre of the divine worship for the people of Israel. Through the Prophet Nathan, God made known His plan to David: it was Solomon, David’s son and successor as king of Israel who would build the great Temple for God. At the same time, God renewed His promise to David to make the reign of his house secure. David obeyed God and did whatever God instructed. He reign righteously and justly, ushering a great era of prosperity and happiness among the Israelites. The seeds David sowed for the building of the great House of God met with the divine grace and bear much fruits when the Temple of God was built by his son. God’s promises are being manifested quietly, in ways beyond our understanding. The parable of the Sower in today's Gospel likens the mysterious working of grace to the inner life-force of the seed, the Word of God. It also look at the potential of the soil, whether rocky and shallow or fruitful and tillable. Much of the soil is rocky and dry, with the result that many seeds never takes root, or never properly ripen. Yet, in spite of all kinds of obstacles, there can be a good harvest. The underlying message remains: Look beyond the obstacles, the set-backs, the disappointments; God is at work in Jesus and the harvest will be great in the end.

May the Lord sow His seeds of divine grace in us so that we may bear fruit of righteousness, truth and never have limit to our faith, hope and endurance! Amen!! Good morning and have a pleasant day!!!
