Your faith has made you well

Your faith has made you well

By REV. FR. SAMUEL FREDERICK

Ish 29:17-24, Mt. 9:27-31. In the first reading, Isaiah speaks about the deaf recovering their sense of hearing and the blind, their sense of vision. In today’s Gospel, Jesus brings this to it fulfilment when He heals two blind men, in response to their faith. The gift of new sight and hearing is an invitation to embrace the logic of the Kingdom and live according to the demand of a change of life style. We might see and hear what the world does not and the world will hate us for the same. If we press hard, we will also see, beyond all the troubles of the present, a resurrection awaiting us; we will also hear and beyond the cacophonies of the world.

We must also follow Jesus with our desires and hopes, but also with patience. Jesus waited until the two blind men had caught up with Him. He asked them: “Do you trust I can do this?” When they answered, “Yes, Lord!” He reached out and touched their eyes gently, lovingly and prayerfully. Jesus can help us only when we have faith in His goodness and let Him touch us when we are weak and in need. As He touched them, He said: “Because of your faith, it shall be done to you.” We must trust that His love will overcome every obstacle. In a true sense, love is blind to the obstacles of fear and selfishness. Once Jesus touches us, Isaiah’s words begin to come true. In that “very little while” there is an interchange of love and confidence and we regain our full selves.

May the Lord open our eyes and hearts to see the treasure of God's love and announce His goodness and truth! Amen!! Good morning and have a pleasant day!!!
