My Grace is sufficient for you

My Grace is sufficient for you

By REV. FR. SAMUEL FREDERICK

Rom. 7:18-25, Lk. 12:54-59. In today's first reading, Paul speaks of the contradiction that he experienced within: They will to do good and the prevalence of evil which he hates. Paul understood it as a sign to turn to the Lord who alone can free him from his wretched state. His lamentation is an indication that he was sensitive to his human weakness. The consciousness of our human weaknesses is the first stage of our move towards God. Thus, Jesus in today's Gospel, challenges us to read the sign of time, pointing out our weaknesses to show us the way forward.

Today, we find people who ignore the signs and are unaware of the consequences in their lives. Jesus made it clear to the people of His time that the only sign to be recognized is the need for repentance. We must understand the call of Jesus for conversion as the sign of our times. However, this sign is outrightly rejected by the people of this age. The people of Nineveh and Queen of Sheba changed their lives and turned to God without the need of great signs. Let us also recognise the constant call of God to walk towards Him and be filled with grace as He says to us: "My Grace is enough for you, my power is made perfect in weakness" (2 Cor. 12:9-10). Are you battling with a weakness, hoping for victory over it and looking forward to a better 'you'? God says to you today: "My Grace is enough for you, my power is made perfect in weakness."

May the Lord help us with His grace to avoid wrongdoingS and strength us to overcome our weaknesses! Amen!! Good morning and have a pleasant day!!!
