Christ among you, your hope of glory

Christ among you, your hope of glory

By REV. FR. SAMUEL FREDERICK

Col. 1:24-2:3, Lk. 6:6-11. Jesus is often portrayed as giving hope to those who are desperately in need of healing. His arrival in the Synagogue in today's Gospel gave hope to the man with paralysed right hand. In spite of the hostile comments of others, his hope was not disappointed. Jesus remains a hopeful presence in our lives, that is why Paul calls Him “Christ among you, your hope of glory.” Jesus lives invisibly among us and His presence is the foretaste of eternal life. Right here and now He inspires us to expect a fuller life with Him in eternity. This hope says St Paul, will not be disappointed. As believers, we are always people of hope.

Jesus in His ministry announced the Mercy of God and shows that His Mercy acts in favour of the most unprotected. As Jesus approaches the man with a “paralysed right hand”, who is prevented from any contact, who cannot work and who lives with many difficulties everyday, Jesus called him and put him in the middle. The action of God is like that: He calls us in our paralysis and invites us to move, in our limitations and shows us the Mercy of God. To put people in the middle means that every human life is of worth, beyond the law or prejudices. In times of trials and difficulties, let us ask the Lord for the strength to continue to forge ahead and the grace to remain focus.

May the Lord be with us as we take up our daily tasks and help us to remember that it is in the world we live and work! Amen!! Good morning, have a productive week!!!
