The Holy Spirit enlightens us in our confusion

The Holy Spirit enlightens us in our confusion

By REV. FR. SAMUEL FREDERICK

Acts 15:1-2.22-29, Rev. 21:10-14.22-23, Jn 14:23-29. On this Sixth Sunday of Easter Year C, the Church invites us to reflect on the power of the Holy Spirit which is the radiant glory that enlightens us. If we remain docile to Him, He will guide us in all our decisions and ways through this world. In the first reading and in the whole chapters of the Acts of the Apostles, the Apostles did not take any decisions without consulting the Holy Spirit. Also, the second reading speaks of the power of the Holy Spirit and states thus: “In the Spirit, the angel took me to the top of an enormous mountain…” Of course, there is no way John could have seen these things without the help of the Holy Spirit. Christ also promised to send the Holy Spirit to His disciples before His Ascension.

The Holy Spirit is the power of Jesus and He will not leave us as orphans. This Sunday, Jesus assures us that the Holy Spirit will teach and remind us of all that, He had taught us. So, all we need to do is to remain docile to the counsel of the Holy Spirit. We need to be attentive to Him if we must be able to read the signs of time and succeed in our mission in to our world today. At no time in the history of the world has the need to listen to the Holy Spirit been more important than at our own time. As Christians, there are so many intrigues, perplexities and dilemmas that we must contend with in our world. Only those who pay attention to the Holy Spirit can understand the reasons for these and where they are lead us to. So, this time calls the need for a special relationship with the Holy Spirit.

May the Holy Spirit enlighten us to understand the revealed Word of God more completely and allow our lives to be formed by His Word! Amen!! Good morning and have a blissful Sunday!!!
