Team Spirit helps

By REV. FR. SAMUEL FREDERICK

Acts 14:19-28, Jn 14:27-31. The first reading assures us that despite the challenges and difficulties we may have to face, God will never abandon us. He will bless all those who have given themselves to His cause and will provide for those who have been faithful to Him. The disciples crowded round Paul who was stoned, dragged outside the city, surprisingly stood up and went back to the town. They remained firm in their resolution and commitment to serve the Lord and went to more places, encouraging the faithful and the disciples of the Lord with the same assurance that God has given them, that suffering and persecution were just among the many things that they had to endure in order to enjoy the fullness of the glory of God.

God assures us that He will be with us, regardless of what happens to us and at every moment, be it times of good or times of trouble. He will be by our side, watching over us and protecting us. Through Jesus Christ, the Apostles inflamed many others with the same courage and the message of peace. Before His Ascension, Jesus offered us the gift of peace. In today's Gospel, Jesus bestows on His disciples 'Shalom' - God’s tranquillity, harmony and completeness. Such is the peace the world cannot give, the peace that is in effect, “a state of being full of well-being” or, “a state of tranquillity in the face of impending disaster of the world.” What keeps the disciples so much at ease in the face of impending disaster? It is Love and the conviction that stems out of love and obedience to God-driven consciousness.

May the Lord pour on us the Spirit that creates and renews, stay with us throughout this day and remain with us forever! Amen!! Good morning and have a pleasant day!!!
