Let us give thanks to God always

Let us give thanks to God always

By REV. FR. SAMUEL FREDERICK

Gen. 3:1-8, Mk 7:31-37. In today's first reading, we are presented with the experience of the lost of paradise by Adam and Eve, while the Gospel tells us of the regained paradise. Adam and Eve realised they were naked and felt ashamed. They felt the need to cover up, each needing to hide from the other. Fear and mistrust inhibited the open spontaneity of their relationship. Hence, we are challenged to have a sense of gratitude to God, the source of all our good.

Once the man was healed, every other impediment was dropped. With spontaneous joy he forgets the order to tell nobody. The man who had been deaf and dumb now tosses inhibition to the wind, dancing, singing, shouting and proclaiming the good news. For this sense of Paradise lost and regained, we give thanks to God, source of all goodness. We can sometimes take our senses for granted, the fact that we can see, hear, smell, touch and speak. We must not wait for us to lose one of our senses or someone close to us loses one of theirs, before we can begin to realize how precious those gifts are.

May the Lord guide our thoughts, words and actions so that what we do and say may be pleasing to God! Amen!! Good morning and have a pleasant day!!!
