We are part of God's creative art

We are part of God's creative art

By REV. FR. SAMUEL FREDERICK

Gen. 1:20-2:4, Mk 7:1-13. Today's first reading shows that God has a place of honour for us in His divine creation. We are given great responsibility to care for the works of God and we should not take that responsibility lightly or be confused about what it requires of us. God gave us rule over the works of His hands out of His great love for us. We are so honoured because God seeks to form an intimate partnership with us in the care of creation. We cannot effectively take on this great role if our hearts are not in tune with God.

The next thing we must do then, is listen to God to gain insights into how we must work with Him. We cannot do that unless we give our whole hearts to the task but we can, by developing a deeper personal relationship with Jesus as a companion. When we learn to speak with Jesus and listen to Him from our hearts, we can easily discern what God requires of us. Instead of the Pharisees of the time of Jesus to be internally oriented towards the Lord in their way of life and in their actions, they enforced laws and rules that were unfortunately against the true meaning and intention of the Law of God. The Law should show us, the path that we must not take, in our journey towards becoming a better and more faithful servant of God and grow stronger in our love for God and place Him at the centre of our life.

May the Lord continue to sow in us, the seeds of His love, grow in faith, in our love for Him and in our fellow men, so that day after day, we may grow ever closer to Him! Amen!! Good morning have and a great day!!!
