God stands by us always

God stands by us always

By REV. FR. SAMUEL FREDERICK

Heb. 11:32-40, Mk 5:1-20. Today, we are invited to contemplate on the power of God. The first reading presents the mighty power of God through His servants from the days of Moses and the judges of Israel. Today's Gospel also shows the miraculous deed that Jesus performed as He cast out demons from a man in Gadara region. We heard of the wonderful love and providence of God for His people, as He helped all those who had placed their faith in Him. He liberated them from the tyranny and oppression of the Egyptians, Amalekites, Canaanites and many other enemies and oppressors of Israel through the centuries of their stay in the promised land. He brought them out of their troubles, provided for them and blessed them.

The Lord showed His might and power by casting out those demons from the man who had been ostracised and cast aside from the community. He showed His people, that God’s love and power overcomes everything. The Lord loves each and every one of us, even those of us who are in the deepest darkness, dirtiest and most tainted by sin. He who created us out of love, with His desire to love us and to share the perfect love found in Him with us, certainly wants us to be reconciled with Him. We are challenged to put our complete trust in Him, knowing that He is ever present in our midst and standing by us, even in the moments of our greatest sorrow, suffering, agony and pain.

May the Lord help us to love and obey Him, so that the works of our hands may always display what His hands have done, until the day we gaze upon the beauty of His face! Amen!! Good morning and have a productive weekend!!!
