The Memorial of St JohnBosco

By REV. FR. SAMUEL FREDERICK

Heb. 10:19-25, Mk 4:21-25. The Good News is not something we are meant to hoard and keep for ourselves. It must bear fruit; it must be shared with the world. That is why Jesus affirms that the lamp is not meant to be hidden under the bed; it is put on a stand so that it may illuminate the dark room. In the same way, the Gospel is not to be hoarded; it exists to be shared and made visible. It is meant to illuminate the world.

Through the blood of Jesus we have the right to enter the sanctuary, by a new way which He has opened for us to penetrate the dark world. We have the supreme high priest who wants us to influence the world with great virtue. Today, we are challenged to be sincere in heart and filled with faith, our minds free from any trace of bad conscience and our bodies washed clean. Let us learn from St Johnbosco (1815 - 1888) who influenced his world through his concern for the young ones. Johnbosco was born in Piedmont of a peasant family and he was brought up by his widowed mother. He became a priest and devoted himself to setting up a boarding-house for apprentices and then workshops for their training and education. To ensure the continuation of his work, he founded a congregation, named the Salesians.

May the Lord sanctify us through His life-giving Word and consecrate us in His blood until our eyes see His face! Amen!! Good morning and have great day!!!
