God is more concern about our wellbeing

God is more concern about our wellbeing

By REV. FR. SAMUEL FREDERICK

Heb. 6:10-20, Mk 2:23-28. When it comes to the way of God, Jesus always has much to teach us. The Lord continues to speak to us, teach and enlighten us in and through His word. That is why we approach the Scriptures in the spirit of openness and humility. We come before the word not as experts but as learners, inviting the Lord to enlighten us and lead us further on our voyage of discovery towards the compete truth. Today’s first reading prompts us to loving service in the ordinary events of everyday life, especially service to those of our household: “God, will not forget your work and the love you have shown him by your service, past and present".

Our God notices each action and thought, so that in His sight, even the hairs on our head are numbered. That is why the concern for our wellbeing is more important to God than the strict observance of the law. The Pharisees criticized Jesus for picking ears of corn on the Sabbath. As far as they were concerned, that was a form of work and so, was forbidden on the Sabbath. They were convinced that they understood what God expected of them on the Sabbath. They saw themselves as experts, but in reality they were only learners and they had much to learn from the real understanding of the Sabbath.

May the Lord deepen in us true love for others so that in all things we may seek the good of others! Amen!! Good morning and have a wonderful day!!!
