Friday after Epiphany

Friday after Epiphany

By REV. FR. SAMUEL FREDERICK

1 Jn 5:5-13, Lk. 5:12-16. Today's first reading presents us with three testimonies about Jesus, namely: the testimony of the Spirit, water and Blood. This is a reminder of the proof that Jesus is truly Christ, the Saviour of the world, promised by God. The Spirit of God in us can help us to recognise the presence of Christ in our midst, as Mary was filled with the Holy Spirit, praising God in the Magnificat, proclaiming the great wonders of God. The occasion again proclaimed the truth about Christ, for the water and the blood represented two natures of Christ, as Man and Divine, two natures united in the single person of Jesus Christ.

Are we willing to allow the Lord to come into our midst and heal us from afflictions? To confirm the truth of the prophesy of yesterday's Gospel, in today’s Gospel, we encounter Jesus who heals a leper by His words. He frees him not only from the health challenges but also from the social implications of his ailment. Yet he sends him to show himself to the priest and to offer for his cleansing what Moses prescribed; that will be proof for them. Jesus is ready to heal and restore our health. We are challenged to make a leap of faith, spare a moment to present ourselves to Him and converse with Him.

May God, our loving Father and Saviour, continue to love us and bless us everyday of our lives! Amen!! Good morning and have a pleasant day!!!
