Follow Me

Follow Me

By REV. FR. SAMUEL FREDERICK

1 Jn 3:11-21, Jn 1:43-51. Today’s Gospel describes how Jesus recruited some of His disciples: He simply said “Follow me" and people who were searching for something higher, responded positively. Today's first reading gives the clue to why it is necessary to follow Jesus. God gives us His life and shows us what the meaning of true love is and not the self love propagated by the world that has lured many into sin. The world presents us with an alternative to the path the Lord had shown us, a different path, which is seemingly easier and more pleasant, but in truth, leads to perdition. The self love makes us succumb to greed, desire for worldly goods, money, pleasure, power, fame, influence, human praise and glory, prestige and status.

Today, we are called to follow Christ like the Apostles did. Let us listen to the truth and allowed Christ to transform our life. We are challenged to allow the life of Christ to influence our approach to life, so that we may no longer centre our thoughts and desires on self, but on God alone. Let us open our hearts and minds, allowing the love of God to enter into our own lives. Let us always remember the loving sacrifice of our Lord, every moments of our life.

May the Lord continue to love us, now and always and help us to respect the dignity of everyone! Amen!! Good morning and have a glorious day!!!
