The Last Day of the Year Blessing

The Last Day of the Year Blessing

By REV. FR. SAMUEL FREDERICK

1 Jn 2:18-21, Jn 1:1-18. We have journeyed through the year 2018 successfully. Another year of grace and blessings will soon be a part of history. God has blessed us in many ways and granted us the gift of continued life. It is indeed a privilege to end this year of grace with reassurance from God that He has become one with us and dwells among us. In today's Gospel, St John introduces Jesus as 'the Word, the Life, the Light, the Truth and the Word made flesh'. Jesus, the Word that existed in the presence of God, became flesh for us to communicate God's love and compassion to us.

Jesus revealed His Father to us and His all-encompassing love and forgiveness. Jesus came to bring us "Life" in abundance and He is the light of the world. As we come to the last day of the year, it would be good for us to evaluate the impact of the life of Christ. Let us ask ourselves how often do we read the Word of God, reflecting on it and using its message for our daily living? Let us ask how we were able to bring life to others like Jesus did, in our words and actions? Let us pray that in the new year we may dwell in the Word and the Word may dwell in us so as to experience the Father's love.

May Jesus, the Word, Life and Light strengthen and enlighten us in the new year! Amen!! Good morning, it is well with you!!!
