Acknowledge the Greatness of God and His Might

By REV. FR. SAMUEL FREDERICK

Songs 2:8-14, Lk. 1:39-45. There is a gentle tone of affection in today's readings. The author of today's first reading pours out some of the lovely, lyrical love-poetry for his young bride from Egypt, describing the overflowing emotions of love between them: "...let me hear your voice; for your voice is sweet
and your face is beautiful". Today's Gospel also presents us with the mutual spiritual bond between Mary and Elizabeth. When Mary visited Elizabeth, they pondered on how God has blessed them and how through them many others who would come to live more fully the life of Christ. Mary and Elizabeth felt the saving grace of God surging through their lives and were not afraid to encourage each other to appreciate God's graciousness.

Many of us were raised on the principle that ‘God helps those who help themselves’ and that displays itself in our pursuit of holiness. We need to live our lives based on the Gospel value and acknowledge that God is a gracious God. Today, we are challenged to live in the joy and knowledge of God's indwelling presence in us through His Holy Spirit. The Spirit enlightens us to see the good in others and praise God the source of all goodness and blessing. We are called to feel the power of the Holy Spirit in all that we do as we look forward to the celebration of the incarnation of Christ.

May the Lord who entered our world and shared in our human condition, bring health to the sick, give the dying a share in His glory, unite our efforts for a better world! Amen!! Good morning and have a pleasant day!!!
