Only Refine mindset can help us to the greatest height

Ecclesiasticus 48:1-4.9-12, Mt. 17:10-13. The Jews strongly believed that Elijah would prepare the way for the Messiah by setting everything in order. Jesus affirms this in today's Gospel when He said that Elijah has come and gone in the person of John the Baptist. So the conclusion is evident: the Messiah has already come. For the Jews, the Messiah is a warlord who will save the nation from the Romans' tyranny and not a weak Messiah with poor parents in a humble hamlet. John the Baptist qualified for the role Elijah played as he prepared the way for the coming of Christ by preaching repentance and renewal. Their misguided thought made them lose sight of the essential task of Elijah: to be the person pointing to Christ as the first reading tells us.

Preconceived mindset and misguided thought is one of the problems of our age; they prevent us from reading the signs of time and the reality around us. That is why Jesus challenged their mindset and changed their idea of whom a Messiah is and introduced the idea of a Messiah who brought the crown out from the cross, success from failure and victory from what is considered a defeat. What is required to have a new vision, new insight and a new way of seeing things is change of mindset because nobody reaches expected heights in life without a correct and configured mindset.

May the Lord teach us to be open and receptive to the message of Christ as we prepare for Christmas! Amen!! Good morning and Happy Weekend!!!
