They will see the Son of Man coming in a cloud with power and great glory

By REV. FR. SAMUEL FREDERICK

Rev. 18:1-2.21-23.19:1-3.9, Lk. 21:20-28. Today's readings present us with an account of the last days which will come at the culmination of the second coming of Christ in power and glory. This is to tell us that our world is not a permanent dwelling place for us. We are mere stewards on this earth. This world will come to an end and on the day of reckoning, we will be judged justly based on the way we lived our lives here on earth.

Today, Jesus invites us to be ready to receive the crown that awaits us on judgment day. All we need to do is to be ready for action: wearing our 'cap' of faith, 'cloak' of integrity, 'girdle' of goodness and 'armour' of the word of God. Only spiritual blindness and refusal to listen to the word of God will keep us away from discerning the meaning and relevance of the signs that will appear as the world approaches its end. Jesus is very clear when He tells us what it would cost us to follow Him but the consoling factor is that we are never alone in times of tribulations and persecutions. Jesus promised us that not even a hair of our head will perish (Cf. Lk. 21:18).

May the Lord renew us and may our lives be a model of His grace! Amen!! Good morning and have a joyful day!!!
