Luke 21:19; "By your endurance you will gain your souls."

Luke 21:19; "By your endurance you will gain your souls."

By REV. FR. PAUL ANIGBORO

The Greek for endurance (hypomoné) is like our modern phrase “hanging in there” and reflects an inner attitude of perseverance, consistency, dependability. In hard times we must continue in our loyalty to God. Jesus did not promise his disciples words like Joy, plenty money, prosperity, success; rather, he told them of the persecutions, betrayal, insults, prisons and killing that will come to them. And he charged them to endure, to hang in there and not give up in those hard times.

We live in a world today where many persons suffer for what is right and because of the values they uphold. We too are charges to endure and not give in to those difficulties. Moments of persecution can be described as passing through the wilderness and just as Moses and the people of Israel scale through, we too will scale through surely. Our endurance will lead us all the way. So, what is it you are going through presently for the sake of Christ? Bear it patiently, just hang in there and don't give up. God will see you through.

Lord, grant us the grace to endure pains and persecution for the sake of your kingdom. Amen.

Good morning and do have a wonderful day. God loves you.
