Lord, that I may see

Lord, that I may see

By REV. FR. SAMUEL FREDERICK

Rev. 1:1-4.2:1-5, Lk. 18:35-43. Today's Gospel narrates an incident that happened as the Lord was going up to Jerusalem. A blind man, Bartimaeus, was sitting by the roadside begging. Hearing a multitude going by, he inquired what this meant, then called on Jesus for mercy. Despite the attempt to stop him from getting close to Jesus, he cried out all the more, "Jesus, son of David, have mercy on me". This story on Bartimaeus gives us a wonderful lesson for our spiritual life. While on the physical level the man is blind, on the spiritual level he has insight because of his ability to recognise that Jesus of Nazareth is also the Messiah, which those who have physical sight are not able to do.

We might tend to close our eyes to the needs of others or to the injustice that we see around us or become obstacles to others to reach Jesus, it means we have eyes and prefer not to see. We might also have people standing on our way, let us be fill with courage and the insight to move on despite all odds. Today, we are challenged to find out what prevents us from seeing good in others. Let us call on Jesus for His mercy and be healed.

As we begin this week, may the Lord grant us grace and strong will to overcome all obstacles that obstruct us from reaching God! Amen!! Good morning, do have a fruitful week!!!
