Have the Mind of Christ

Have the Mind of Christ

By REV. FR. SAMUEL FREDERICK

: Phil. 2:5-11, Lk. 14:15-24. To have the mind of Christ is to imitate Christ and follow Him with sincerity of heart. Quoting an early liturgical hymn, St Paul in today's first reading, presents Christ to us as an epitome of humility, who was exalted throughout the world. If we must be exalted like Christ, we are challenged to follow His footsteps and express our faith in the humble service of our community. Such expressions of faith demands sacrifice and self-denial. To build a firm and concrete society, we are called to be merciful and love genuinely without discrimination. In the parable of the great banquet, Jesus in today's Gospel tells us that discrimination can never be found in the Kingdom of God, for status or social class cannot guarantee our participation at the heavenly banquet. What will assure us of full participation is to wear the proper garment for the banquet. As we put on the 'cap of faith', we must wear 'the cloak of integrity', 'fragrance of holiness', 'shoes of goodness' and be covered with Christ-like attitude. May the Lord give us the insight to see His hand at work in our life and to live a life pleasing to God! Amen!! Good morning and have a great day!!! Revd Fr Samuel Frederick.
