Christ should take the central place

Christ should take the central place

By REV. FR. SAMUEL FREDERICK

Phil. 1:18-26, Lk. 14:1.7-11. Everyday provides us with another opportunity to improve on our relationship with God. In today's first reading, Paul reflects on his personal relationship with Christ on the basis of his suffering. However, he seems to be in a dilemma as to which is more profitable but was sure that Christ should take the central position. Today's Gospel also relates the invitation of Christ to a banquet. At the table, there were places of greater and lesser honour. The invited guests were no doubt over-anxious as to who would get the better seats. Jesus took notice of their concern and took the path of humility. He also noticed the bad manners of the other guests. They were totally mistaken in been overwhelmed by the presence of Jesus right there in the room with them.

In the course of our lives, how often do we observe a similar phenomenon? What an enormous effort people make to be noticed, remembered and admired. Yet little effort is put into being close to God. Today in our time of prayer, let us ask the Blessed Virgin Mary to teach us the virtue of humility. This is the only way to grow in love for her Son, to be close to Him, for humility always wins the Divine Heart.

May the Lord continue to draw our heart close to His Divine presence everyday of our lives! Amen!! Good morning and Happy weekend!!!
