Celebrating the Glory of all the Saints
By REV. FR. SAMUEL FREDERICK

Rev. 7:2-4.9-14, 1 Jn 3:1-3, Mt. 5:1-12. As we celebrate the Solemnity of 'All Saints', we remember in a special way that, sanctity is accessible to everyone in their various jobs and situations in life and to pray that God should continue to keep us faithful to reach our goal. We remember today all the unsung heroes and heroines of our faith who are in the presence of God, reaping the rewards of their good deeds on earth. These are the countless souls of people from every nation, race, tribe and language as our first reading tells us. Today, the Church invites us to raise our hearts and minds to the immense multitudes of men and women from all works of life who persevere all through and fought the good fight of faith and finished the race for justice in our unjust world, who were sincere with their faith, merciful and are peace-makers.

In the 'Sermon on the Mount' as recounted in today's Gospel, Jesus tells His disciples how their pains and afflictions will help them stay as members of the Kingdom of Heaven. In fact, their poverty and meekness can become occasions of "blessedness" in the Kingdom of Heaven. The "Beatitudes" spells out the implication and the right attitudes to be partakers of the glory of the saints. We are challenged to a new and superior righteousness greater than social expectations. These men and women were mortal beings like us; for every saint has a pass and every sinner has a future. The same grace that helped them is still available for us today. If we run and endure, the way they did, we shall also be numbered with them.

May the Lord help us by His grace to be numbered among the great multitudes who finished the race successfully, when the saints go marching in! Amen!! Good morning and Happy New Month!!!
