Our Faith should be expressed in our Domestic life

By REV. FR. SAMUEL FREDERICK

Eph. 6:1-9, Lk. 13:22-30. In today's first reading, St Paul presents family relationship as that of Christ to the Church. The duty of a husband and wife to each other should be an expression of reconciliation and love that they should extend to their children. The children are also challenged to put in their best in their duties in domestic life: "Children, be obedient to your parents in the Lord – that is your duty". Sometime, this may not be easy to come by but it is the best thing to do to please the Lord.

Three sayings of Jesus are thought-provoking in today's Gospel. The first saying, is about the road to eternal life which is narrow. Journey to eternal life is not a bed of roses. It is the way of the Cross which a few wants to take. The second saying, is about the last judgement. We will not be judged on account of being witness to the preaching of the Good News but on the goodness or wickedness of our heart. The third saying, is the climax: the first will be last and the last first. The last will be first because they chose the narrow path and had the goodness of heart. Similarly the first will be last because they were wicked and cunningly avoided the narrow path.

May the Lord help us to be responsible men and women in our family! Amen!! Good morning and have a wonderful day!!!
