The Lord announces His Presence in a varieties of ways

By REV. FR. SAMUEL FREDERICK

Men have always been interested in the changing of the seasons and climate. Sailors have an understandable concern for weather conditions, for direction, force of the wind and cloud formations. They analyse this information so as to forecast conditions in their work environment. In today's Gospel, Jesus gives His hearers something to think about. They can read the signs of the weather with very little evidence to go on, but they seem unable to read the abundant signs of times regarding the Messiah because they lack good will and right intention. Their eyes were closed to the light of the Gospel because their judgement was beclouded with biases. Despite all these signs, many of them predicted by the Prophets, they did not draw the appropriate conclusion.

God was in the midst of His people and they did not recognise Him. The Lord continues to pass by in our life. He tells us of His presence by a variety of signs, yet we sometimes do not recognise Him. Christ is present in the people we work with, in those who need our help and in the members of our family. All that is necessary to recognise Him is to "Bear with one another charitably, in complete selflessness, gentleness and patience" as St Paul tells us in the first reading.

May the Lord help us to live a life worthy of our vocations! Amen!! Good morning and have a pleasant day!!!
