We have a Special Mission on Earth

By REV. FR. SAMUEL FREDERICK

Eph. 3:2-12, Lk. 12:39-48. After Jesus had warned His disciples of the need to be vigilant, Peter asked in today's Gospel if the teaching applied to them as His closest followers or to everyone. Jesus proceeded to emphasise the unpredictability of time when God will finally call us to give an account of our stewardship. Jesus makes it clear that His teaching applies to all without exception. God will judge us personally according to our circumstances and graces we have received. Each of us has a mission to fulfil on earth. We have to be faithful to this vocation to the end of our lives. We will be judged according to the fruits our efforts have borne. St Paul explains this idea in the first reading when he tells us of his effort to bring the Gentiles to share the same inheritance with the chosen people of God. For us living in the world, we must respond to God positively in our daily work. Our work should be ordered to the glory of God, the service of society and the fulfilment of family obligations (Cf. 1 Tim. 5:8). May the Lord teach us to see God in everyone, give us the spirit of forgiveness and a generous heart! Amen!! Good morning and have a wonderful day!!!
