We have been Stamped with the Seal of the Holy Spirit

By REV. FR. SAMUEL FREDERICK

Eph. 1:11-14, Lk. 12:1-7. So great were the crowds flocking to see Jesus that they were trampling on one another. Even in the midst of this crush, Jesus warns His disciples in today's Gospel to "beware of the leaven of the Pharisees, which is hypocrisy". Being hypocrites, the Pharisees of His time, preached one thing and lived just contrary to it. They lived for the approval of men rather than that of God. Their lives were as false and empty as an actor's mask. The disciple who found oneself in such a trap, succumb to the temptation of giving undue importance to the opinions of men at the expense of obedience to God.

We are called to live authentic life devoid of hypocrisy. On different occasions, Jesus criticised the Pharisees for being white sepulchres: outside, they seem beautiful, but inside they are filled with decaying bones. We are challenged to be good wholesome leaven like one who have been stamped with the seal of the Holy Spirit as St Paul tells us in the first reading. Today, Jesus wants men and women who live coherent and sincere life of faith.

May the Lord create within us authentic faith inspired by the Holy Spirit! Amen!! Good morning and have a great day!!!
