Accept the message of Christ in its richness

Accept the message of Christ in its richness

By REV. FR. SAMUEL FREDERICK

Job 38:1.12-21.40:3-5, Lk. 10:13-16. The mission discourse continues with a different tone in today's Gospel. It starts with pity and judgement for the city of Capernaum, Bethsaida and Chorazin, comfort and consolation for Tyre and Sidon for being open to the powerful work of Jesus. Jesus reminds the three cities of Capernaum, Bethsaida and Chorazin of the misery they brought upon themselves through their failed responsibilities. Jesus was heartbroken by their stubbornness and sinful living. Although they witnessed the mighty power of God, it seems to make no difference in their lives.

Despite being the beneficiaries of the mercies of God they rejected the message of Christ. Unlike the people of Capernaum, Bethsaida and Chorazin, let us appreciate God's favour, blessings, miracles and mercies upon us by accepting His message and doing His Will. Today, we are challenged to avoid biases, pride, indifference and materialistic tendencies that prevents us from accepting the message of Christ in its richness.

May the Lord help us to see His hand at work in our life so that we may live in newness of life! Amen!! Good morning and have a nice day!!!
