In doing the Will of God we become members of God's Household

In doing the Will of God we become members of God's Household

By REV. FR. SAMUEL FREDERICK

Prov. 21:1-6.10-13, Lk. 8:19-21. Surely, the Mother and close relatives of Jesus are so dear to Him as our parents and siblings are to us. Yet when His relatives seek to see Him in today's Gospel, instead of rushing out to meet them He remained where He was and made a remark, which seems like an indication of some indifference. It would be indifference if Mary and close relatives of Jesus did not do the will of God or that some others did the will of the Father more perfectly than them.

However, the statement "My Mother and brothers are those who hear the Word of God and do it" is certainly a compliment to His Mother who was the first bearer of Christ and who always listened to the Word of God and practised it. By these words, Jesus extends the frontier of the family of God to the whole universe, transcending barriers of race and belief. Instead of showing indifference, Jesus shows how dear we are to Him when we listen to God and do His Will.

May the Lord pour out His love on our friends and family, on all whom we know and may He grant us open heart to do the Will of God! Amen!! Good morning and have a pleasant day!!!
