The Glory of God among the People

The Glory of God among the People

By REV. FR. SAMUEL FREDERICK

The first reading tells us about the vision of the coming of the glory of God in the Temple. This confirms the presence of God among His people. In our time, people around us should be able to feel the presence of God by the credible life we live. One of the reasons many believers lack credibility among the people is that we preach and teach more than being witnesses. There is considerable inconsistency in what we profess and what we practice. In today's Gospel, Jesus challenges us to be people with credibility, sensitive and committed to the welfare of others.

Unlike the Pharisees and the teachers of the law whose teachings are sensible but their actions are oppressive, we are called to lead with irreproachable life witness. This life of witnessing is summarised in the liturgy of the Ordination of Priests and Deacons: "Receive the Gospel of Christ whose herald you now are. Believe what you read, teach what you believe and practice what you teach."

May the Lord help us to be authentic witnesses to the message of Christ! Amen!! Good morning and Happy weekend!!!
