Matt. 19:21; "If you wish to be perfect, go, sell your possessions, and give the money to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; then come, follow me."
By REV. FR. PAUL ANIGBORO

The admonition of Jesus to the rich young man in today's gospel is an invitation not to cling so closely to material possessions. Material possessions are necessary for our survival on earth but clinging on to them as if our salvation depends on it can be misleading. We are called to embrace the spirit of detachment from earthly things, so that we can build treasures for ourselves in heaven.

Lord, grant the spirit of true detachment. May we be contended with what you have blessed us with and be able to share with others from the abundance you have given us. Bless us this new week and protect us from all evils. Amen.

Good morning and do have a wonderful week ahead. God loves you.
