CELEBRATING THE TRANSFIGURATION OF THE LORD

CELEBRATING THE TRANSFIGURATION OF THE LORD

By REV. FR. SAMUEL FREDERICK

CELEBRATING THE TRANSFIGURATION OF THE LORD: Dan. 7:9-10.13-14, 2 Pet. 1:16-19, Mk 9:2-10. Today we recall the Transfiguration of the Lord to affirm the exaltation of Christ in anticipation of His Eternal Glory. This revelation prefigures the splendour of Heaven and God wishes, that we be saved as long as we continue to walk with His Son Jesus. All that we need to do is to continue to respond, walk faithfully and listen to Christ attentively. In today's Gospel, three disciples had the glimpse of Christ. They would have love to be in that condition, but that was not to be. A return to the real world was unavoidable, the experience transformed their lives.

There are also moments of such transcendental and transformational experiences in our lives, whether we notice them or not, it can be momentary glimpses of God's presence, a moment of deep delight or an experience of ecstasy. It is a reminder that there is life beyond the mundane, that the supreme God is interested in us, that if we follow and listen to His beloved Son closely we shall reach the fullness of glory with Him. To listen to Jesus means, transforming our lives and changing our ways for the best. This also means living according to the word of God, walking with God, trusting Him no matter our circumstances, obeying His will and paying attention to what the Church teaches.

May the Lord help us to work well this week, transfigure our hearts when we are weak and look forward to the glory that is to come! Amen!! Good morning and have a fruitful week!!!
