MY MORNING MINUTE WITH JESUS

MY MORNING MINUTE WITH JESUS

By REV. FR. PAUL ANIGBORO

“The kingdom of heaven is like a mustard seed…”

The parables of the Mustard Seed and Leaven celebrate God’s power alive and active in the church, in us and in creation. God supplies growth from insignificant beginnings to great outcomes. The church had its humble beginnings with Jesus’ call of four, then a fifth, twelve, seventy (Luke), and then 3000 at Pentecost. The rest is history. We owe that growth to God. The same thing happens with the human person, and with family and with everything we do. We must be more appreciative of God’s blessings of growth and increase. We also need to commit the beginnings of our different endeavors to the Lord, because the growth of such endeavors or projects cannot be frustrated by anything or anyone. Also, the Leaven reminds us of the influence that we must exert as God’s children, by bringing the love of God in us to spur positive growth wherever God puts us. Our presence and contributions should yield great outcomes that bring joy and respite to people, just like the birds that find rest under the branches of the grown mustard tree.

Lord, grant us growth and increase by your power silently active in us. Amen.
