MY MORNING MINUTE WITH JESUS

MY MORNING MINUTE WITH JESUS

By REV. FR. ANTHONY EWHERIDO

“Act justly, love tenderly and walk humbly with your God.”

God demanded these virtues of Israel long ago and He continues to require them of us even today. Acting justly, we relate to fellow human beings with the understanding that people are not just utilitarian entities but that our words and actions must enhance human dignity with utmost consideration. Loving tenderly, we pay attention to those less privileged than ourselves, and those on the margins of society, who suffer most gravely the injustices and indignities that destroy the fabric of our society. Walking humbly with God, we submit completely to God, the source and author of life upon whom we depend completely for our livelihood. In addition, such humility drives us to sincere sorrow for our failings and enables us obtain mercy and forgiveness. So God offers us a complete package for Christian living through Prophet Micah in that invitation to act justly, love tenderly and walk humbly with God. Built on these, we can boast of nothing because we dependent on God for everything. And we can look down on no one because all human beings are co-dependent on God.

Lord, give us humble and contrite hearts. Amen.
