DAILY SPIRITUAL BOUQUET: Micah 6:1-4.6-8, Mt. 12:38-42.

By REV. FR. SAMUEL FREDERICK

Though the Scribes and Pharisees were parts of the witnesses to the healing power of God in Jesus, they still asked for a 'sign' to prove that He is the awaited Messiah as narrated in today's Gospel. Instead of giving in to their demand, Jesus reminds them of the sign of prophet Jonah whose preaching the Ninevites heard and heeded.

To demand for signs is the mark of hardness of heart and such cannot lead to great faith; for a faith that needs 'proofs' is no faith. Thus, Jesus demands for sincere faith that believe divine reality. Jesus also demands for practical faith expressed in our actions. A faith that can help us "to act justly, to love tenderly and to walk humbly" as the prophet Micah challenged us in today's first reading.

May the Lord be with us in all our trials and give us the courage to forgive others as He forgives us our trespasses! Amen!!! Good morning and have a fulfilled and productive week!!!
