Matt. 8:17; "He took our infirmities and bore our diseases."

Matt. 8:17; "He took our infirmities and bore our diseases."

By REV. FR. PAUL ANIGBORO

Today is the last day of the month of June. We thank God for keeping us safe till date. May his name be blessed both now and forever. Amen. When we lament, why do we lament? We lament most times because we have an unpalatable situation before us and we are in dire need of help or rescue. The Israelites and the centurion in both the first and gospel readings today lamented for a particular reason. The request of the centurion was granted and he was praised for his faith.

The story of the centurion should serve as a confidence booster for us that we have a God to run to everyday and not just when things seems rough for us. But how we approach him matters. We shouldn't approach God with pride as if we are entitled to receive it. We must approach him with humility and faith. God is ready to wide away our shame and pain. Trust him and don't give up.

Lord, in our lamentations, May we remain hopeful that you will hear us and grant our request. Thank you for the month of June and may July be better than June. Amen.

Good morning and do have a wonderful weekend. God loves you.
