2 Tim. 4:7; "I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith."

By REV. FR. PAUL ANIGBORO

Walking through Saints Peter and Paul Major Seminary, Bodija, Ibadan, you cannot but notice the two huge statue of Peter and Paul centrally placed where everyone coming in and going out of the seminary can easily locate it. In these two images, we will see Peter holding keys and Bible, while Paul is seen holding sword and Bible. The importance of these two great men to Christianity cannot be overlooked and pushed away. No wonder we have a day like this to celebrate them and their contribution to the spread of the Christian faith.

When we talk about good Christian leadership, we only need to read about the lives of this two personalities. They fulfilled the role entrusted to their care and they carried it out with distinction. Half of the books of the New Testament were written by St. Paul. Peter was always present in all the Gospel as a trusted disciple of Jesus. A Christian leader who does not go into Satan's territory to rescue lost souls nor protects his flock from wandering into danger is no follower of Christ, because this was Christ's entire mission. Today we celebrate men of timber and calibre. What do we have to learn from them? Selflessness in witnessing. Times are hard but we can't run away from our task as Christians. Now is the time to give a more authentic witnessing not by words but our lives.

Lord, keep all leaders true to you and make them selfless in their service to humanity. Amen.

*May God grant eternal rest to all who died at the Lagos inferno yesterday and Grant fortitude to those who lost any loved ones or friends. Amen.*

Good morning and do have a wonderful day. God loves you.
