Matt. 6:21; "For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also."

Matt. 6:21; "For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also."

By REV. FR. PAUL ANIGBORO

A treasure is a valuable asset kept somewhere safe. Most times, as humans these assets are material stuffs like money, power, fame, houses, cars, etc. These types of treasures are perishable and worthless. None of it is heavenly, no matter how beneficial it is, because we can't take it with us when we die. It will remain here in this world for the relatives to fight over, if it even lasts that long. Athaliah, in the first reading was ready to kill all her grandchildren due to her inordinate thirst for power.

When our treasure lies in material possessions, we are ready to do anything possible to keep it safe even to the extent of killing and destroying relationships with our brothers and sisters. Where should our treasure be? The kingdom of God. To get there, we need to keep our eyes on Jesus and on all the treasures that God has given us and look for ways that we can use them for his kingdom. Then you will find true contentment!

Lord, be the treasure that I seek daily and let not the desires of this world draw me away from you. Amen.

Good morning and do have a wonderful weekend. God loves you.
