James 5:9; "Beloved, do not grumble against one another, so that you may not be judged."

James 5:9; "Beloved, do not grumble against one another, so that you may not be judged."

By REV. FR. PAUL ANIGBORO

Why do we grumble or complain about one another? Is there ever a day we don't complain or grumble about someone? The reason we like to complain is because we're looking for help. We're wishing (often unconsciously) that the person we complain to will step in and do something about it. However, when we take our complaints to God, a most amazing response occurs. God gives us sympathy. He cares! He helps us by taking away our frustration, dissolving it into his love.

Grumbling or complaining about one's spouse is one of the major problems causing broken marriages today. Why? When we complain about our spouses to the wrong people, there is every tendency that they give us wrong advice. Marriage is not a union of two perfect persons but that of imperfect ones seeking perfection together. This is why Jesus said in today's gospel that what God has joined together, let no man put asunder. We must learn to be patient with one another and not expect too much from the other person. St. James admonished that as an example of suffering and patience, let us look up to the prophets who showed endurance in their work.

Lord, teach us and to bear pain and hurts patiently. Help us tolerate and love people unconditionally. Amen.

Good morning and do have a wonderful day ahead. God loves you.
