My Morning Minute With Jesus

“And eternal life is this: to know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom you have sent.”

The joy of knowing that Jesus prayed for us all must be sustained through a constant awareness of Jesus’ love for us. Jesus, in the first petition, prayed for the gift of eternal life for his disciples even now, an expression of His profound love for us. The visible manifestation of that precious gift is knowledge of the Father and knowledge of Jesus. To know them is to stay within the stronghold of Jesus’ embrace, irrespective of challenges as Paul shows in the first reading; not to allow ourselves be drowned by the world and its allurements, since we are in but not of the world; to live in perfect communion with God and Jesus, as God’s temple; to completely give our lives to God, whom Jesus has revealed to us; to courageously bear the image, likeness and name of the creator; to be committed to a life of prayer like Jesus, prayer for others and for ourselves; and to remain focused on Christ as he leads us in the Holy Spirit.

Lord, keep faithful to the promptings of your Spirit. Amen.
