DAILY CHEWING STICK FOR THURSDAY OF THE 3RD WEEK OF EASTER 19TH APRIL 2018(Acts 8:26-40; Jn 6:44-51).
By REV. FR. FRANCIS ONUGHA

In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Good Morning My Dear People of God and how was your night rest?
May the Blood of Jesus set us free today from Sin and Sorrow. Amen.
I plead the Mercy of God upon ALL TRAVELLERS today, May God keep and protect them from the dangers of the high way. Amen.
May St. Christopher, Patron of Travellers intercede and protect you all. Amen.

Brethren, BREAD is a common, affordable and important food or do I say snack made from flour, water and yeast.
They come out baked different types and sizes.
They are given different names like Agege bread, Butterfield bread, Sunrise bread, etc. They are packaged in different forms, while some are sliced, some are not, some are even toasted or buttered, etc.
Bread is mostly eaten in the morning for breakfast, but it can also be eaten at any other time of the day. It can be eaten with boiled or fried egg, with beans for lunch or even with indomie as I saw somebody doing the other day. Most handworkers like Bricklayers, Mechanics, Welders, roadside workers often eat Bread with Coke during their Labour break.
Bread is often times bought by TRAVELLERS to give to their people at home on their return from a journey. I don't know when and how that started which is now like a tradition.
BREAD IS EATEN TO QUENCH OUR PHYSICAL HUNGER JUST TEMPORARILY, FOR WE SHALL BE HUNGRY AGAIN AFTERWARDS.

Dearly Beloved in Christ, today in our Gospel passage, JESUS presents us with THAT BREAD THAT IS DIFFERENT FROM ALL OTHER BREAD. And He said to us today: WHOEVER EATS THIS BREAD SHALL NEVER BE HUNGRY AGAIN.
I trust you know this song well enough:

I am the Bread of life, he who comes to me shall not hunger,
He who believes in me shall not thirst.
No one can come to me, unless the Father draws him.

Chorus: And I will raise him up (x3)
On the last day.

This Bread is the BODY AND BLOOD OF CHRIST.
How often do you EAT THIS SPIRITUAL BREAD?
Do you know that the WORLD, the FLESH and the DEVIL often draw us away from this BREAD?
Jesus calls us today to DISTRACT our DISTRACTIONS and LISTEN to the WORD OF GOD, so that we can eat this Spiritual Banquet and have life.
Hurry today, No excuses!
Excuses remain the NAILS used to build a House of failure.
You are not a Failure. You will not miss Heaven.
You will be Favoured and Blessed.
So, don't be LAZY to get up and go for CONFESSION.
Don't use MY WORK, MY WORK as a cover up or EXCUSE all the time, remember that YOUR WORK GIVES YOU SALARY THAT SATISFIES ONLY FOR A SHORT TIME, BUT THE BREAD OF LIFE IS ETERNAL SATISFACTION.
What else hinders you from partaking in this FOOD OF ANGELS that we are privileged to EAT? Is it your Marriage, not blessed in the Church? So what are you waiting for? You want to save billions and have Societal Wedding that will enter the Guinness Book of Records? Or No time for Marriage Course? Don't forget that A STITCH IN TIME SAVES............!

Cheers and Remain Blessed.
