The company of those who believed were of one heart and soul.

The company of those who believed were of one heart and soul.

By REV. FR. SAMUEL FREDERICK

Acts 4:32-37, Jn 3:7-15. Contentment does not come from abundance of possessions. Corruption and notorious scams are caused by some ministers, politicians and the rich who already possess much more than others. Those who crave for more never have a contented heart. But the people who are contented with what they have willingly share what they have with the needy, are really the happy, contented people. This was the secret of the happiness of the early Christian community.

Christ 'lifted up on the cross' gave, and continues to give us reasons to live and to love. This is described beautifully well in the first reading which recounts the sharing and caring of the early Christian community that reflects life 'in the Spirit.' In our contemporary time, we could replicate the same selfless and communal spirit of the early Christian community by our acts of love, with our sharing of time and resources so that "none of the people in our community will ever be in want."

May the Lord help us to overcome all envy and dissension and help us to take care of our brothers and sisters in their every need! Amen!! Good morning and have a glorious day!!!
