Our Hopes are sustained and trails overcome in the Name of Jesus Christ

By REV. FR. SAMUEL FREDERICK

Acts 3:11-26, Lk. 24:35-48. After the healing of the crippled man, Peter and John went into the Temple with the man. At the first sight of the man, the people were amazed at the restoration. In today's first reading, Peter explains how God could do the same for all who believe in the Name of His Son Jesus Christ. Though, the Jewish leaders failed to accept the fact that Jesus fulfils all that the Jews had hoped, Peter maintains that they acted “out of ignorance.” Peter affirms: “All the prophets have announced the events of these days.” In the Name of Jesus Christ, our hopes are sustained, our trials are overcome, laws and habits purified under the influence of God’s prompting Spirit. In the same way, ignorant of the Old Testament prophecy about Jesus made the disciples to be frightened when Jesus revealed Himself to them.

In today's Gospel , Jesus reassures His disciples that He is indeed alive, that was why He asked them for food to eat, as spirits and ghosts do not eat or consume food. He showed them His wounds to show that He indeed suffered and died and the crucifixion was all real. He remain the same One who suffered on the Cross, is alive and triumphant, having won the ultimate victory over evil, sin and death. Today, we are challenged to follow in the footsteps of the Apostles of the Lord, who dedicated their whole lives to serve God and commit themselves to speak up for the truth even amidst opposition, persecution and suffering. We are called to accept our part in the greater works of the Church, embracing our calling as Christians to be witnesses of our Lord in our respective communities.

May the Lord come to us with His untiring strength, reveal in our lives the loving-kindness of God and heal the world from the coronavirus pandemic! Amen!! Stay safe and have a panic free day!!!
