Alleluia, Christ is Risen

Alleluia, Christ is Risen

By REV. FR. SAMUEL FREDERICK

Acts 10:34.37-43, Col. 3:1-4, Jn 20:1-9. Today is the greatest of all Sundays in the Christian calendar, Easter, because of the newness of life that it brings. Today a new epoch has completely began, Jesus who suffered, crucified, died and was buried has now been glorified. Christ has risen in fulfillment of His promise: “I will rise on the third day.” Today, we celebrate the triumph of good over evil, of light over darkness and of peace over chaos. We celebrate hope, patience and the fulfillment of God’s promise to His people. We also celebrate the uniqueness of our religion, the resurrection of our Lord.

Today's first reading gives us the testimony of Peter and ends with a very clear statement of faith: "To him all the prophets bear witness, that everyone who believes in him will receive forgiveness of sins through his name." The second reading begins with this affirmation: "If then you were raised with Christ, seek what is above, where Christ is seated at the right hand of God." Through Baptism, we die to sin and rise to new life. If we remain united to Him, we will rise in glory as He did. In today's Gospel, we encounter Mary of Magdala going to the tomb of Jesus, finding it empty and then running to tell the disciples. As with the disciples, this faith must become our own and it must become so powerful that we act out our declaration: Christ is risen. Let us proclaim and act towards each other and the world in a way that leads our neighbours and families toward Him into the Kingdom.

May the light of God shine forth through our lives, cast away darkness of this world and bring hope to warm our hearts! Amen!! Remain safe and Happy Easter!!!
