MRS ISHIOYE NOW AICWO PRESIDENT

THE ARCHDIOCESE OF Ibadan Catholic Women Organisation (AICWO) on Sunday 15 July elected new officers to run its affairs for the next four years. The election, at St Patrick’s Basorun, Ibadan, was conducted by Rev. Fr Richard Omolade, laity chaplain, Ibadan archdiocese and rector, St Paul’s Institute. He was assisted by Chief  B. A. Oladosu, Ibadan Provincial CWO president; Mr Samuel Nwankwo, general secretary, Ibadan Laity Council, and Mr Olabode Ojomo, PRO 2, Ibadan Laity Council.

Also in attendance were Rev. Msgr. T.O.A. Fadeyi, AICWO chaplain, and Rev. Sr Anna-Maria Ajibola, AICWO spiritual directress.

Fr Omolade had earlier read out the new CBCN law that stated that nobody can be retained in an office for more than one term, but such a person can vie for another position.

At the end of the exercise, Chief  Motunrayo Ishioye of the Church of the Ascension emerged as president.

Mrs Emem Obilor of St Lawrence, Lasokun emerged as vice-president I; Mrs Christiana Omogbai of  St Jude’s, Iwo Road, is now vice-president II.

Mrs Edith Ishidahomen of C.K.C, Odo-Ona, is the general secretary. Mrs Odiba (St Michael’s, Yemetu) is the assistant secretary I; Chief  Yemi Ogunleye, assistant secretary II.

Mrs Omotayo Farinola St (Gregory, Moniya) is the financial secretary; Mrs G.L.O. Akinlosotu (St Thomas, Agbowo)  treasurer.

Other officers are Cecilia Olayiwola of St Anthony’s Ejioku, PRO 1; Mrs Lucia Egunjobi (St Christopher, Sango)  PRO 2; Mrs. E Dike St Rita’s, Arometa) social secretary I, and Mrs Theresa Abiola (St Patrick’s, Basorun) social secretary 2.

Mrs Amaechi from St Joseph’s, Oke-Ado, Chief Whip I, and Mrs. Mary Lawanson from St. Charles Lwanga, chief whip 2; Mrs. Clara Nyong from Seat of Wisdom, U.I. auditor 1, and Mrs Josiah of St Charles Lwanga, Adeoyo, auditor 2.

Chief Ishioye, in her acceptance speech, prayed for a successful tenure though she didn’t expect the post. She appreciated the women of Ibadan archdiocese for the love they showed her.

Msgr Fadeyi thereafter warned that any new executive member that is holding any post in her parish should resign because it is not acceptable to hold two posts at the same time.

Sr Anna-Maria later implored anybody that knew she was not fit for the post to so indicate before it was too late.

In her speech, Chief Cecilia Oduye, outgoing AICWO president, appreciated the women for the support they gave her during her tenure. She then encouraged all of them to give maximum support to her predecessor.
