YOUR WORK WILL SPEAK FOR YOU SAYS FR ADEDIGBA

THE BOARD OF Catechists of the Central Deanery of Ibadan Archdiocese gathered at St Michael, Yemetu, Ibadan, for the bi-monthly meeting on Saturday 26 May.

Twenty catechists from 15 parishes were in attendance.

Rev. Fr Felix Adedigba, assistant parish priest, welcomed the catechists on behalf of Rev. Fr Felix Akinyode, parish priest.

In his address, Fr Adedigba said that the input of catechists in the church could not be quantified being the closer collaborators of priests.

If the catechists fail in their duty as teachers of faith, the Catholic faith will suffer, he said, adding that they should be more committed. “The work must be carried out charitably.”

Fr Adedigba told the catechists not to be discouraged because “if you are not recognised on this earth, your work will speak for you in heaven and you will be highly rewarded.”

He prayed that the good Lord would continue to strengthen them.

Fr Akinyode, who later joined them at the meeting, emphasised the importance of catechists in the church. The Catholic Church, according to him, has her own doctrine and it is our responsibility to hand it over to subsequent generations.

He commended and appreciated the effort  of the  host parish catechists and  thanked   everyone   for making  themselves available.

He then prayed that God would count them worthy to share in His Kingdom.
