YOUTH ADVISED TO BE HUMBLE OGBERE, IBADAN

REV.FR FRANCIS Omolade, parish priest of Our Lady Queen of Peace, Ogbere Oloba, has advised youths to be humble, if they really wish to reconcile with God.

Fr Francis gave this advice during a Lenten retreat organised by the Catholic Youth Organisation of Nigeria (CYON), Central Deanery, on Saturday 10 March at Ogbere parish.

In line with Luke 18: 9-4, Fr Charles told the youth to avoid self-praise and arrogance and be like the tax collector who exhibited humility, acknowledged his sinfulness and begged God for forgiveness. “The Pharisee was condemned,” he said.

“Our life as a Christian is a journey from God, and back to God. The roadmap is by keeping the Ten Commandments.”

According to Fr Omolade, humility surpasses pride embedded in us and is the main ingredient which can help us to retrace our steps and do the right thing in every sphere of our life.”As a youth, being humble is a good virtue that can lead you to heaven. This same humility will enable you to accept the fact that you have done some wrongs to God and as a prodigal son you will rise to go and receive the Sacrament of Penance. Humility is the acceptance of truth about yourself, and is also an attitude of being honest with God, yourself and all reality,” he said.

The retreat also featured Penitential Service, Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament, Adoration and a Mass which was concelebrated by the Central Deanery youth chaplain, Rev. Fr Joseph Asunde.
