ARCHBISHOP JOB FETES PRISONERS

MOST REV. FELIX Alaba Job has admonished Agodi Prisons inmates to examine their conscience thoroughly and ensure that when they are released, they would not come back to the place again as inmates.

Archbishop Job gave the admonition during his annual Episcopal ordination celebrated with the Agodi inmates.

The Mass was concelebrated with Archbishop Gabriel Abegunrin, Rev. Fr Ezekiel Owoeye, JDPC co-ordinator, Msgr T.O. Fadeyi, parish priest, St Cyprian’s, Oke-Offa, Ibadan, his assistant, Fr Johnson Iwuala, and Fr Julius Sangokeye, parish priest, Divine Mercy, Monatan, Ibadan.

Archbishop Job urged the inmates not to lose hope. Pray always that God should forgive your sins and renew your hearts to become good citizens, he said.

Mr Femi Ogums, head of Agodi prisons inmates, said the yearly celebration “is a significant event in the life of the inmates.”

We appreciate the impact of the emeritus archbishop in our lives including the SMA, SS Peter and Paul Seminarians, Legion of Mary, the Redemptorist brothers, the Pro Labore Dei for all their assistance, he added.

He said the Chief Judge of Oyo State, Justice M. Abimbola, had come a day earlier to release 85 inmates and thanked the judge again for his constant visit to the prisons in order to decongest the prisons of “the awaited trial and other innocent inmates.”

Earlier, Rev. Fr Ezekiel Owoeye, JDPC coordinator, had welcomed all to the 51st Episcopal celebration, stating that the emeritus has been celebrating Christmas with the inmates for 25 years.

Fr Owoeye thanked the emeritus archbishop for choosing Agodi prisons for his annual celebration and the Archbishop Abegunrin for supporting the event.
