BISHOP AYO-MARIA ATOYEBI LEADS OTHERS TO THANK GOD AT HARVEST TAIWO ROAD, ILORIN

BISHOP AYO-MARIA Atoyebi, OP, of Ilorin has expressed his appreciation to God on behalf of the congregation for keeping them alive and healthy to witness another yearly adult harvest.

Bishop Atoyebi on Sunday 12 November admonished St Joseph's Cathedral, Taiwo Road, Ilorin parishioners to give "generously, abundantly, substantially and sacrificially."

The Shepherd and was assisted  by  V.  Rev.  Frs  A. Lawani, cathedral administrator, and A. Ozoemene of Onitsha Archdiocese.  The homilist, Fr Ozoemene, assured the parishioners that the angels were waiting for them to receive the Lord's abundant blessings because harvest is biblical and it comes once in a year.

He enjoined them to give generously to receive the blessings of Abel who was rewarded by God for his generosity because he gave God the best gift unlike his brother Cain.

The homilist cautioned that giving should not be seen as punishment but an appreciation to God's mercy and kindness at all times. "If you fail to venture in the life of faith you remain where you are, if  you  think big, you will be big and vice versa," he said.

Many societies and communities later danced to the altar with their cash gifts and other items in thanksgiving.

The harvest was concluded with bazaar sales which lasted till 8pm.
